NRA Certified Pistol Safety Courses

 These courses are conducted by VNP Security, a New York security company, whose instructors are certified by the National Rifle Association (NRA) and the New York State Rifle and Pistol Association (NYSRPA).

 These "basics of pistol shooting" courses, including the written examination, fully conform with the requirements of both the NRA and the NYSRPA, except that the actual firing-of-a-handgun portion of the course is held in abeyance until our students receive their pistol licenses.

 Upon satisfactory completion of this course VNP Security Company students receive a letter of certification which, in the case of Westchester County residents, must be presented to the Westchester County Department of Public Safety at the time of filing for their pistol license.

 VNP Security Company assists all of our students in filling out their Pistol License application forms.

 After receiving their pistol licenses, VNP Security Company students spend one hour at our range of choice participating in a one-hour 'hands-on' training session under the direct supersivion of one of our certified instructors.^(a)

 VNP Security Company students satisfactorily completing the 'hands-on' training session will receive a National Rifle Association Certificate attesting to satisfactory completion of the entire course. This certificate is required by many states when applying for a handgun license in those states.

(a) Normal range usage fees will be borne by the student as well as ammunition and target costs and eye and ear protection rental fees.
